KAKE Premieres "New Weather Look" " . . . . "
While Merril Teller is "training on new equipment," Kake has a "new weather look." (FYI: all the quotes are from the stations' web propaganda.) I think the new weather look is a gimmick. Its not a surprise and really doesn't bother me, since a lot of TV news is a gimmick. It basically is in a sense a virtual weather center. As Jay or the weather guesser of the hour summons, a different piece of the background weather center pops up. I am curious what your opinions are of it. -Hal

It's nice. It looks a little clearer but it's about the same.
Hal...it's not just a "new look", at KAKE, it's new equipment, that's native HD...and the same stuff that "Merril Teller is training on".
KAKE still doesn't have HD cameras and has to upconvert from SD. Funny how Gray spends money on stuff they don't need but not on basic things like HD cameras and upgrading that set, it ranks about 3rd in the market as far as looks.
kake's coverage on saturday looked pretty good. it looks like kake finally might have a chase team to seriously compete with 12. Heard the dude who started 12's team is running things over at kake with jay.
Until 12 puts their new graphics on in a few weeks, then things will be back to the same... 12 way ahead and everyone else behind.

In response to Anon 9:34: Isn't it interesting that the "dude" who is supposedly "running things" at KAKE likes to use the word dude a lot? Just an observation.
Interesting isn't it "Dude" that you immediately go on the defensive with your idiot blast? But then that's what we expect from self-hyped "Weather Authority" in the GooglePlex.
How annoying is that "Weather Authority" logo that constantly switches back-and-forth during the weather? Talk about distracting!
I'm also amused that KAKE is now billing themselves as the "Weather Authority" and the "Breaking News Authority". Seems like they're trying to say that they're number one...when they obviously are far from it.
From my observations, KWCH consistently beats them on stuff...so does KSNW. I think KSNW might just surpass KAKE in the ratings.
