KSN Bankruptcy Finalized

According to the Wichita Eagle, KSN is finished with an 80 day Bankruptcy restructuring process. I know nothing about bankruptcy, so I am curious if anyone does, especially as it is concerned with a TV station and might be able to shed some light. -Hal

The parent company may have eliminated death but KSN has a bigger problem: viewers. Rather the lack there of. NBC is off to a horrible start again this year. Leno is pulling hash-marks in some markets. NBC is a distant forth behind CBS (way ahead again) and a close battle for second between FOX and ABC. That's the problem.

To add to my first post. During the first week of the new season here are the networks and the shows it had in the top 20.

CBS - 11
ABC - 7
FOX - 1
NBC - 1

I ammend my previous post. ABC is No. 2 and Fox is 3 at the moment. NBC's only top 20 show was football, not even scripted programming.

NBC prime is still a problem, no question.

But, actually KAKE has a problem with news viewers.

They are now #3 in the DMA in 3 of the 5 main newscasts

Both May and July.

The Bankruptcy re-organization is a positive for KSN: cash from its operations won't be completely drained by debt service payments by its parent. That slate is cleaned

So they focus at the Broadcasting task at hand--and its a challange.

KWCH is a lock at 10 PM because of net lead-in. NBC is a disaster and the Leno move assures NBC affiliates nationwide will get killed in late news.

KSN at least shows a willingness to put up a fight. Even if their plan works--I don't think you'll see viewership dividends til at least 2011. They face Network headwinds and the reality that viewer habits (even bad ones) are tough to break.

This will probably just lead to KSN spending more money...money that they don't really have!!!

KAKE better watch out...I think KSN could easily challenge them very soon. KSN has a while before it could even come close to challening KWCH.

Larry Scatteberg and crewn better not sleep to easily.
