Where is Merril?
I certainly have not asked that question, but I got a couple of comments to the blog wondering that and then I have seen it on the KWCH website. Then last night, Roger Cornish addressed it on the air, saying Merrill had taken time off and was training on some new HD weather equipment. Enough said. He'll probably be back just in time for the month delayed ratings period to start. Funny how that works. -Hal

Merril has been out for two reasons. His health first and foremost.
Secondly, 12 is changing to a new graphics system. A fellow 12-er tells me he's been in Wisconsin at a weather training company. I also know another station is making changes too.

KAKE should also be debuting a new weather graphics system any day now.
This is not a critique of anyones reporting techniques, nor is it a complaint about a station, rather it is a question for all 3 stations.
This past week, I was watching a local newscast and they went to a report from the newsroom from one of the female reporters. I am trying to be delicate in this wording, so bear with me.
During her commentary, she must have been extremely cold, if you get where I am coming from. It was too much for me, I had to turn.
This could have easily been solved with a jacket or sweater.
I was surprised that no one told her this was happening. Is there no one at these stations who help out in making sure everyone looks OK when going on? I have never seen Anita Cochran with lipstick on her teeth, so someone has to be there to say ooh, you need to fix this.
Ross Janssen and Rodney Price did a great job filling in for Merril.
"Extremely cold"... kind of makes me laugh.
But I agree. Someone could have said something, but it's not something easily conveyed without sounding like a big old pervert.
Reporters should opt for a more professional look and always have a jacket on standby. It's nice to see them looking sharp on-air.
For the younger looking reporters, presentation is especially important.
Yes I am sure they pay someone to make sure people look okay on air, especially given the current economic climate. Give me a break.
Normally the photographer tells you when your tie is not straight or you are too cold.
