Fred Rogers and Cayle Thompson plus Counting lessons on KWCH

Saturday's newscasts on KAKE and KWCH had something in common. It was like they were aiming for the toddler crowd. KAKE's Cayle Thompson was doing his best impersonation of Fred Rogers and we learned KWCH's Linda Mares could count to at least 27.
Linda did the typical first nice day of spring story and how open garage doors lure thieves into stealing. She tried to get "interactive" by driving around the neighborhood counting open garage doors. One thing we learned from this story: KWCH must have a requirement that you have to count to 27. Outside of that, I do not think anything else was gained.
Meanwhile at KAKE Cayle Thompson had a decent story about how recent rain and the late snowfall has replenished water levels at Kanopolis Lake. Not a bad story with some new info. Not that it was necessarily bad, but I had to laugh at his appearance on camera at the end of the story. I immediately thought Cayle might break out with Mr. Roger's "Won't you be my Neighbor" and toss his shoes up in the air like Fred used to do. He appeared on camera with his shoes off and feet naked next to the water with a shoe in his hand talking about how nice it was and the improved lake levels. -Hal
